RoboShop is a QR code generator for Mac, iPhone and iPad. It runs entirely on your devices. RoboShop does not collect, transmit, or store any personal information about you on any server we operate — there is no account, no sign-in, and no analytics.
Everything you type into a code — a web address, a Wi‑Fi password, a phone number, the details on a contact card — stays on your device. RoboShop builds the code locally, using the operating system’s own image and graphics frameworks. Nothing you enter is sent anywhere for encoding, previewing, or exporting, and RoboShop has no server to send it to.
Saved codes are stored as ordinary files: one file per code, in RoboShop’s own folder in your app data or, if you have iCloud Drive enabled, in RoboShop’s iCloud container. A logo image you add is stored inside that file so the code renders the same on every device.
If you are signed in to iCloud and iCloud Drive is on, your saved codes and saved styles sync between your own Mac, iPhone and iPad through Apple’s iCloud, using RoboShop’s private container (iCloud.com.bendansby.roboshop). That sync is between you and Apple: the data goes to your own iCloud account under Apple’s privacy terms, and we can neither see it nor reach it. Turn iCloud Drive off, or turn it off for RoboShop, and the library simply stays local to each device.
A Wi‑Fi code carries the network password, and a contact code carries whatever you put on the card. RoboShop treats these like any other content you type: stored in the saved code, synced only through your own iCloud if you have it on, and never transmitted to us. Worth remembering on your side, though — anyone who scans a Wi‑Fi code can read the password out of it. That is what the code is for.
RoboShop only makes codes; it does not read them. There is no scanner, no decoder, and no camera use of any kind. The app never requests camera access.
The App Store version makes no network calls at all.
The direct-download version adds one thing: license activation. If you enter a license key, it is sent once over HTTPS to Lemon Squeezy, our storefront, to verify the purchase, and re-checked with them periodically so that a refunded or revoked license stops working. That exchange carries the license key and a device name, and nothing about the codes you make. See Lemon Squeezy’s privacy policy for their side of it. Without a license key entered, no such request is made.
Beyond that, there is no analytics endpoint, no crash reporter, no “phone home.”
None in the App Store build. The direct-download build talks to Lemon Squeezy for license activation, as described above. RoboShop embeds no analytics frameworks, advertising libraries, or trackers of any kind.
Only access to the specific files you pick yourself: a logo image you choose in the file picker, and the location you choose when exporting a code. Both are granted by your own action, each time. RoboShop does not request the camera, the microphone, Contacts, Photos, Location, or any other privacy-protected resource.
RoboShop is a general-purpose utility, not directed at children. It does not knowingly collect information from anyone, of any age.
