NiceNoise Privacy Policy

Last updated 2 November 2026

NiceNoise is made by Ben Dansby. This policy covers the Mac app, both the direct download and the version from the Mac App Store.

The short version

NiceNoise collects nothing. It has no analytics, no telemetry, no account and no identifier. The sounds are generated on your Mac as they play, and nothing about how you use the app ever leaves it.

What stays on your Mac

Your settings: the sound you last picked, volume, tone, and whether NiceNoise runs in the menu bar or the Dock. These live in your local preferences and are never transmitted. The sleep timer exists only while it runs.

When NiceNoise uses the network

The Mac App Store version never uses the network at all. The direct download uses it only for these, and neither carries anything about how you use the app:

Purchases through the Mac App Store are handled by Apple under Apple’s privacy policy; NiceNoise sees none of it.

Permissions

None. NiceNoise only plays sound, which needs no permission. It never uses the microphone, camera, screen recording, your files, contacts or location.

Children

NiceNoise is a sound utility. It is not directed at children and collects nothing from anyone.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, the updated version will appear on this page with a new date.
